Transfer Students

The Institute for Holistic Health accepts transfer students. Transfer students fall into two separate categories.

Transfer Student A

You have completed all of a massage therapy program at an acceptable school of massage therapy in another state, country, or territory but the program was less than 500 hours.
OR
You completed some of a massage therapy program at an acceptable school of massage therapy in New York, another state, country, or territory but did not complete the program.

If either scenario describes your prior massage education, the New York State (NYS) Education Department allows The Institute for Holistic Health to transfer in up to 250 clock hours. We will require an official transcript from your school and a course catalog or handbook with course descriptions of the courses that you have completed. We can then determine what courses may be accepted.

The hours that The Institute for Holistic Health accepts will then be applied to the 1036-hour program at The Institute for Holistic Health. Upon graduation, you will receive a certificate of completion.

Transfer Student B

You have completed a program of at least 500 classroom hours and have received a diploma or certificate.

If this describes your education, then you may attend The Institute for Holistic Health with a document called a “Deficiency Letter”.

To obtain a deficiency letter, you must apply to the New York State (NYS) Education Department for licensure. The Department will review your educational credentials, and you will then be issued a deficiency letter that will outline which classes you will need to take in order to fulfill the educational requirements set forth by New York State. You can then take these classes here at The Institute for Holistic Health.

Transfer Student Requirements

  1. Complete Transfer Student Application
  2. Pay appropriate fee.
    a.$150 Transfer fee for Transfer Student A
    b.$300 Transfer fee for Transfer Student B
  3. Present government-issued photo ID with legal name and birthdate and Social Security Card.
  4. Once your personalized schedule has been confirmed, your tuition will be calculated, and your payment plan will be set up. The financial agreement must then be signed.
  5. Students must take a course in its entirety, even if NYS requires fewer hours. No partial classes will be allowed.
  6. Students must purchase any required textbooks or materials for the required course.
  7. Transfer students must fulfill the attendance requirements for each course.
  8. If clinic hours are required, the transfer student must give the director of education a full body massage to establish competency.
  9. Sign and adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in the Student Handbook.
  10. Sign Enrollment Agreement.
